Atomic Fibers is a fabric and yarn shop located in Oak Ridge, TN. The store's retro flair and modern designs, complimented by the historic backdrop of our community, attracts fiber enthusiasts of all ages and styles.
Owners, Toni and Karen, met through their shared interest in quilting, becoming friends and eventually creative partners in a community based business that allows them to share their interest in fiber crafting with all who wish to learn.
We opened in the winter of 2015 with a goal to meet the creative needs of sewists, quilters, and yarn enthusiasts by providing them with high quality products and services that are competitively priced and reflect the latest industry trends. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff is always on hand to inspire, assist, and educate our customers to ensure their crafting enjoyment and success.
Toni has over 22 years of quilting/sewing experience and she's been knitting for over 5 years. Toni has worked in two establish quilt shops in the past, one in Maryland and another here in Tennessee. In both shops she did sales, machine maintenance, webpages, marketing and teaching. She's a Air Force veteran, a mother of four, grandmother of one, and has been married for over 29 years to a retired Air Force man. Toni loves working with fabric and yarn, as well as creatively using various color combinations.
Karen has been sewing since the age of 8, having learned the skill from her mother. Her handmade garments won numerous 4-H competitions, but despite her talents, sewing took a backseat to her career in large corporate companies for over 36 years. A granddaughter's request (4 years ago) for a horse quilt spurred a renewed love of fabric, color, and patterns. Karen has since blessed her family with numerous quilts designed specifically for each person's personal interests. Karen has been married over 25 years (to an Electrical Engineer) and is a mother two sons, one granddaughter, and two grandsons.
